Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World is also known as Disney World or Walt Disney World Resort. It is the best entertainment location and resort in Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake, Florida, USA, near the famous cities Kissimmee and Orlando. The resort was established on 1st October 1971. The entire place is maintained and operated by Walt Disney Products, Parks, and Experiences. The whole property is built upon 25,000 acres (39 sq mi 101 km2) land and half part of the entire land is used to create different theme parks and resorts. The Disney resorts have two types, the first one has four theme parks (Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and the Hollywood Studios) and the second is the water parks (Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach). There are nine non-Disney hotels, a campaigning resort, different golf courses, 31 resort hotels, and entertainment venues. All venues have both indoor as well as outdoor activities. There are outdoor shopping venues during Disney Springs.
The complex was built in the 1960s by Walt Disney to complement Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which debuted in 1955. The goal of “The Florida Project,” as it was dubbed, was to present a unique vision with its own set of attractions. In addition, Walt Disney’s initial designs called for an “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” (EPCOT), a planned community that would serve as a test for future city-living ideas. During the early planning of the facility, Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966. Following his death, the corporation debated whether the Disney World project should be completed. Walt’s older brother, Roy, however, came out of retirement to see that Walt’s greatest desire come true.
Construction began in 1967, with the corporation rejecting the experimental concepts in favor of a planned community and instead of developing a resort akin to Disneyland. In 1971, the Magic Kingdom became the first theme park in the complex, followed by Epcot (1982), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (1989), and Disney’s Animal Kingdom (1990). (1998). Roy was the one who insisted on changing the name of the entire complex from Disney World to Walt Disney World, assuring that the project would be remembered as Walt’s dream.
With an annual attendance of more than 58 million people, Walt Disney World was the most visited vacation resort in the world in 2018. The resort has become a popular staple in American culture and is the flagship destination of Disney’s worldwide corporate empire. In 2020, Walt Disney World was chosen to host the NBA Bubble, which will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex during the 2019–20 NBA season. Walt Disney World (along with Disneyland) is also protected by an FAA prohibited airspace zone, which prohibits all airspace activities without prior approval from the US government, including the use of drones; this level of protection is normally reserved for American critical infrastructure (such as the Pantex plant), military bases, the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Special Flight Rules Area, official presidential travel, and Camp David.
After reopening during the COVID-19 epidemic, Disney World started laying off 6,500 employees in 2020 and only ran at 25% capacity.
