Discovery Cove
Discovery Cove is the warmest theme resort and park in Orlando, Florida, owned and functioned by SeaWorld Entertainment and Parks. It is SeaWorld Orlando’s and Aquatica Orlando’s sibling park. Visitors can engage with a variety of marine species, including dolphins with bottlenose, at the park.
Swimming with a dolphin is the main attraction at the famous Discovery Cove, where guests may ” touch, speak, swim and play ” with dolphins who have a bottlenose appearance. A flight-free aviary with over 300 tropical birds, which includes toucans, parrots, and over 40 other exotic bird species, is located in the park.
Exotic Attractions
The warm Tropical River air and its way through the beautiful aviary and around the place, allowing visitors to slightly past a variety of Discovery Cove’s waterfalls, beaches, and rainforest scenery. The park’s freshwater resort pool is fed by the Tropical River.
The Grand Reef opened in 2011 and added to the park’s size. This reef was required since the real reef had recurrent saline water that was affecting the mud water, thus Freshwater Oasis was installed in its place. The Grand Reef is home to a palm-lined island, white-sand beach, and underwater grottos teeming with several reef sharks, moray eels, and a plethora of other crazy tropical fish. From snorkeling with eagle rays a rope bridge is situated over a shark-infested lagoon, there’s something for everyone.
Ticket options include Aquatica Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa, and SeaWorld Orlando. Discovery Cove admission is all-inclusive[clarification needed]. The park offers three distinct entrance packages, including non-dolphin swim, dolphin swim, and “Master for one Day.” [requires citation] Discovery Cove requires reservations, and the attraction can only accommodate 1300 people at any given time. Discounts are frequently provided for residents of Florida.
Social Distancing
- Even before COVID, Discovery Cove did an excellent job of limiting the number of people at their resort on any given day. They want guests to be able to do as much as possible while at the resort without the lagoons and pools becoming overcrowded.
- Because you may swim with fish and rays, the Grand Reef is rather consistently “full” throughout the day. We never felt cramped or unable to stay in our family pod while in the water!
- Throughout the resort, social distancing signs are strategically placed, particularly in high-traffic areas! We were separated from other families and spacing between groups was enforced during our pre-reg presentation for the Dolphin Encounter.
- There are plenty of lawn chairs and umbrellas accessible for those who don’t want to upgrade to a day cabana or a day bed. Throughout the day, we noticed a lot of empty chairs and umbrellas, but we never saw two groups stacked on top of each other.
Discovery Cove is expensive, but you will get your money’s worth, especially if you combine it with a trip to Sea World or Aquatica. The park as a whole is lovely and well-maintained.
One day is enough, even if you don’t want to leave! Arrive early and depart later, as others have suggested. This isn’t your standard Orlando theme park, where you race from one side to the next. This is supposed to be a RELAXING experience: the genuine essence of a holiday.
